Tournament Pics

These are pictures from an arcade tournament that featured Marvel vs Capcom 2, Capcom vs SNK, Street Fighter Alpha 3, and Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. But for me this thing is an experience, though losing alot to people just made me a better player a little. I practiced really hard for this on my Sega Dreamcast, and traveled long distance several times in search for challenge. I'm one of those people that where I live, I can't get true, tournament-like challenge in my backyard and worse yet, that challenge I want is too far away from me. But I'd like to thank "Renegade"  for setting up these tournaments so I could get the exposure to REAL fighting gaming, "Nuker" even though he kicked my @$$ in the first round of MvC2, just wanna say I think I now mastered Cable's AHVBx3 (Air Hyper Viper Beamx3), and also "BLT" and "Tenk" (real names withheld for protection) for passing down better Capcom vs SNK tips. And lastly, Shoryuken.com for just existing in general.

Click this link for more pictures of other tournaments I've been to.

Just two guys enjoying themselves getting their Marvel vs Capcom 2 pre-tourney practice in.

Me playing a round at Capcom vs SNK. I won this one. Team I used: Terry Bogard and Guile, Capcom Groove.

Waiting for another CvS match. I was going through my pockets looking for a token.

Me playing Street Fighter Alpha 3. Won the first run, used Sagat.

I happen to be standing near one of the east coast's hottest and one of the country's Top 10 Fighting gamers, Arturo Sanchez. After I was eliminated completely from all the games, I had to leave, so I only got to challenge him at Marvel vs Capcom 1 but I did get to see him play one round of Marvel vs Capcom 2. Since I had to go I didn't get to see a whole lot of his skill with my own two eyes. In the end, he placed first at all the featured games. Watch out! This man's a beast!

You can tell by the look on my face I was in a really tense situation. It was. The guy that I was challenging (in the white shirt and sunglasses on) really got himself a cheap-cheap-thrill. I really wanted to at least scream in his ear to distract him. He picked Spiral and just 8-balled my Cable, Storm and Strider Hiryu team in the corner with an endless labyrinth of knives not giving me a chance to do anything, interrupting my super moves and knocking out my assist attacks as they jump halfway into the screen. I tell ya, his tactics against me was like pouring a giant tank of gasoline into a volcano. Eventually I erupted by screaming "S***!!" at the top of my lungs and banged the control panel one time out of extreme rage. Yeah there comes a point in gaming where you just....ya know...lose it. Luckily I didn't get disqualified, something that would happen if I did it at the very popular tournaments like B5.

Me challenging casually at King of Fighters 2000. In this game I think my skill is whack. But to be taken into consideration, this is the first time in a few years I have ever touched a SNK made fighting game in an arcade, so I am pretty rusty. The Asian guy I'm playing had a good win streak. I think he beat 10 people so far when I put my token in.
